We finally hit the coast and it was so foggy you could not even see the ocean. It was pretty cool in a erie fall-of-the-edge-of-the-world way.
The road is windy and runs along cliffs with no guardrails through small coastal towns. We drove right past the North Coast Brewpub and Brewery which was super exciting for me because I am a big beer dork...I wonder if they are brewing up some Old Raspy for the winter. Most of the towns don't even have a gas station or a market but they do have there local medical marijuana supplier! Priorities people! The fog finally cleared at Point Arena just in time for the sunset, now we just have to find a place to camp that is not stupidly expensive. California state parks average $25 to $35 a night....for a fire pit and a shitty toilet. I paid $35 a night for a swank hotel room in Reno. Seriously, California I know you broke but damn!
